Learning Objectives:

After this practical, student should be able to:

 

§         Understand the structure and types of bones of the human skeleton.

 

Detailed Contents:

 

§         General features of different parts of axial skeleton: skull, sternum, ribs & vertebral column.

§         General features and side of different bones of appendicular skeleton.

Practical (3):                       JOINTS

Learning Objectives:

After this practical, student should be able to Describe and Demonstrate:

§         major types of joints in the human body.

 

Detailed Contents:

 

§         Identification of important joints of upper limb, lower limb and vertebral column.

Practical (4):                     MUSCLES

Learning Objectives:

After this practical, student should be able to:

- Have a clear concept of muscular system of the human body and how it works based upon its structure

 

 Detailed Contents:

  • Identification:
    • Head & Neck: some muscles of face, , & sternocleidomastoid.
    • Abdominal Wall: External oblique, Internal oblique, Transversus & Rectus abdominis.
    • Upper Limb: Deltoid, Pectoralis major, Trapezius, Latissimus dorsi, Biceps, Triceps, Brachialis, Flexor and Extensor digitorum.
    • Lower Limb: Gluteus maximus, Quadriceps, Gastrocnemius, Soleus.
    • Diaphragm.

Practical (5):      CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM

Learning Objectives:

After this lecture, student should be able to:

§         Have a concept of structural basis of the heart, arteries and veins.

§         Know the types of circulation, anastomosis and lymphatic system.

§         Know the major blood vessels of the body.

§         Have an understanding of lymphatic system.

 

Detailed Contents:

  • Heart: surfaces, chambers, coronary arteries, coronary sinus.
  • Aorta: division, branches.
  • Pulmonary Trunk.
  • Inferior vena cava.
  • Superior vena cava.
  • Major arteries of upper limb: axillary, brachial, radial & ulnar arteries.
  • Major arteries of lower limb: femoral, popliteal, anterior & posterior tibial.
  • Major veins in neck, upper limb & lower limb.
  • Some superficial veins in upper and lower limbs (cephalic, basilica & great saphenous vein).

Practical (6):       CENTAL NERVOUS SYSTEM

 Learning Objectives:

After this practical, student should be able to:

 

§         Know the structure of nervous tissue.

§         Identify major anatomical features of CNS.

 

 Detailed Contents:

 

  • Duramater: main folds in the cranial cavity.
  • Cerebral hemisphere: Poles, surfaces, borders, lobes & main sulci and gyri.
  • Main arteries.
  • Cranial nerves.
  • Ventricles.

Practical (7):     AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYTEM

§         Autonomic nervous system.

  • Autonomic nervous system.
  • Sympathetic Chains and its ganglia
  • Location of parasympathetic ganglia
